Event: Sacred Cacao and Shamanic drumming evening

Date: December 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

You are very welcome to join us for a very special end of year themed cacao and drumming session.

We will begin with a short meditation with sharing a cup of cacao with one another and spend time on a shamanic drumming journey. No experience is needed in either as I will guide you through the process.

Cacao:

Long ago cacao was used as a plant medicine to show you the door to your inner magic through journeying, healing and meditation. An Indigenous myth tells us whenever the balance between humans and nature becomes threatened, cacao comes from the rainforest to open people’s hearts and return us all to harmony.

Cacao is a grounding and heart-opening guide that can help you access to deep parts of yourself that are calling for you attention; help you to get in touch with and release old patterns of conditioning, emotional, physical and mental blocks that no longer serve to hold on to and welcome in more joy, more love and more magic in their place.

*THE IMPORTANT BITS!*

Do:

Bring water (VERY IMPORTANT) and a scarf or blanket for additional comfort .
Wear comfortable clothing.
PLEASE ALSO SEND A MESSAGE TO CONFIRM YOU ARE COMING.

Avoid:

Eating too much beforehand, to help get the full absorption of the cacao. I recommend a small meal a couple of hours before.

CAFFEINE and DAIRY in the hours before. Cacao has a stimulant quality to it, so too much caffeine on board beforehand can lead to less focus and depth. Dairy counteracts some of the ‘goodies’ in the cacao.

Theobromine, the active component in cacao has a contraindication with some ANTI-DEPRESSANTS – It’s still completely fine in lower doses, but please let me know beforehand if you are taking any as I will need to adjust your dose accordingly.

The Shamanic Drum

Estimated to be between 20,000 and 30,000 years old, shamanic drumming is considered one of the oldest methods for healing. Practiced in diverse cultures around the planet, this technique is strikingly similar the world over. The primary cross-cultural function of shamanic drumming is to induce altered states of consciousness for both journey and embodiment trances.

Shamanism includes the belief that the natural world has two aspects: ordinary everyday awareness, formed by our habitual behaviors, patterns of belief, social norms, and cultural conditioning, and a second non-ordinary awareness accessed through altered states, or ecstatic trance, induced by shamanic practices such as repetitive drumming. The act of entering an ecstatic trance state is called the soul flight or shamanic journey, and it allows us to view life and life’s problems from a detached, spiritual perspective, not easily achieved in a state of ordinary consciousness. Basically, shamanic journeying is a way of communicating with your inner or spirit self and retrieving information.

Your inner self is in constant communication with all aspects of your environment, seen and unseen. You need only journey within to find answers to your questions. Shamanic journeying may be undertaken for purposes of divination, for personal healing, to meet one’s power animal or spirit guide, or for any number of other reasons. The drum, sometimes called the shaman’s horse, provides a simple and effective way to induce ecstatic trance states and most novices report that they can journey successfully even on their first attempt.

We are a friendly and welcoming group, no experience in meditation is needed and we have plenty of first timers at each meetup. Meditation is open to all people of any age and physical ability. (the building is wheelchair accessible just let me know beforehand). While we are primarily an LGBT group we welcome our friends to share in our sessions.

If you feel the call, please come and share with us.

Time: 7pm – 9pm

Cost: 15e to cover the cost of room and cacao.

Do:
Bring water bottle and a scarf or blanket for additional comfort
Wear comfortable clothing. We will have a limited number of cushions available and chairs for people who need one. Most importantly bring an open mind and heart.

Any questions please feel free to drop me a message.

I very much look forward to sharing space with you again.

This is a very popular session and fills up fast so PLEASE only RSVP if you are going to come and update if you can not make it.

With love

James
